TORM is seeking Officer Candidates
TORM is one of the largest transporters of refined oil products in the world, operating product tankers in the 45,000–100,000 TDW range, and we’re expanding rapidly. We currently have 62 vessels in service, with an average age of less than 5 years, and we have placed orders for 16 new constructions.
The education:
The education consists of a theoretical and a practical course.
You will receive pay during the practical course.
TORM will pay for your course books, work clothes and the like.
During the practical period, you will take part in the ship’s daily operations. This means that you will quickly assume responsibilities on board.
The average age on board is low.
Good conditions for personnel – fitness equipment, social activities and more.
Competencies:
You must be able to speak and write Danish fluently.
Good mathematics skills and an academic mindset are a must. If you’re applying for the Ship’s Officer course or the Master Engineer course, you must be good with your hands.
We value independence and maturity – the teaching at SIMAC in Svendborg, Denmark, (the Ship’s Officer Course) involves a certain amount of independent study, and when you’re at sea, everyone is responsible for themselves.
Robustness is required. This is not a profession for people who don’t like to be alone. Even with the modern communication equipment at hand, family and friends are a long way away. You will spend 12 months at sea during the course – approximately 4 months per tour.
