The post-war decade was a period of growth and consolidation.
In 1951, the TORM name became incorporated into the names of all ships. TORM established its own technical department and took delivery of its first tanker, the “M/S Aslaug” from Uddevalla Shipyards in Sweden.
By 1954, the last steam ship in the TORM fleet was decommissioned.
The “Gunhild TORM”, Denmark’s largest dry bulk carrier, joined the fleet and carried over 1000 Volkswagens across the Atlantic on its maiden voyage in 1958.
